At Double U Ranch Horse Sanctuary, care begins with compassion. Many of the horses who arrive here have endured neglect, abuse, or instability. Our role is to provide a calm, consistent environment where healing can take place without fear or pressure.
We believe time, love, and respect are essential elements in restoring trust. Every horse is treated as an individual, with care and guidance tailored to their physical and emotional needs.
Each horse entering the sanctuary receives a thorough evaluation upon arrival. We use the Henneke Body Condition Scoring Chart to assess overall health, weight, and nutritional needs.
New arrivals are placed in a designated quarantine area where they can safely acclimate while receiving observation and a personalized care plan.
Our training methods are rooted in gentleness and patience. We do not use force or harsh techniques. Horses are whistle trained, rewarded for progress, and allowed to rebuild confidence at their own pace.
One of our proven trust-building techniques is the “Mr. Pants” method, which safely simulates rider weight without placing a person at risk.
